Terra Alta wine
Gandesa is the capital of the 746 square kilometer Terra Alta denomination of origin. It is found in South Catalonia and it contains 12 municipalities.
To make the most of the soils' moisture, vines are trailing, and pruned extremely short. With very strong, deep and not too permeable soils, cultivation is carried out in terraced farms thanks to the geography of the Terra Alta.
In Terra Alta DO they produce both red and white wines, both young and aged, as well as mistelle wines, sweet wines and rose wines. The grapes they use for Red wines are Carigan, Black Grenache and Garnacha Peluda these are the most preferred. Whilst for White wines Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo are grown.
